Periyar has come up with seven types of vegetations namely west coast semi evergreen forests, west coast tropical evergreen forest, southern hilltop tropical evergreen forest, southern moist mixed deciduous forest, southern montane wet grasslands, southern montane wet temperate forest and south indian hill tropical grass savannahs.
